Inclusion Group
Our aim is:
To enhance belonging, support and open inclusivity within the Cornerstone Church family
There is loads that our church does well, and we want to encourage more.

Our Objectives are to:
-
Educate with slots in services, information on the Church’s Facebook page and in emails to the congregation
-
Signpost to further information such as events, and through the creation of a resources guide
-
Publicise what we do as a church – on this page for example
We plan to start by addressing issues around neurodiversity which includes things like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia, because it’s estimated that 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent, and because that’s what we know best as a group, but inclusion can cover many other areas and we’re keen to learn.

If you would like to talk to us about any of this, please do! We cannot tailor church to everyone’s needs all of the time, but we want to learn how to do more.

We have recently become a Roofbreaker church.
Roofbreakers are individuals or teams in churches or ministries who listen to disabled people and work together with them to respond to issues that arise, to enable full inclusion.
The term ‘Roofbreaker’ comes from the account in Luke 5 about the paralysed man being let down through the roof to meet with Jesus. His friends, the roofbreakers, helped him to meet with Jesus, and that is our role.
Worryingly, according to the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization, only 5% – 10% of the world’s disabled people have been effectively reached with the Gospel. And whilst members of the Inclusion group of Nick, Andy & I are official Roofbreakers, everyone in the church has a part to play in welcoming disabled people into church.
The aim of being a Roofbreaker church is to help disabled people to have access to church, feel they belong and be fully involved (or commissioned) in the kingdom of God.
